Hard Bargain Players is happy to announce auditions for their first show of the 2026 season:
What the Constitution Means to Me

Audition Dates and Times:
Tuesday, November 18th, 2025 - 7 to 9 PM
Thursday, November 20th, 2025 - 7 to 9 PM
Saturday, November 22nd, 2025 - 10 AM to 1 PM

Audition Requirements:

Please come prepared to read sides from the script.

Arrive at the start time of the audition with your resume information and conflicts from November 23rd through January 31st.

Also reach out at the contact information above if you are not able to make the start time for the audition but would like to come on an audition date.

Prepared monologues are welcome, but not required.

Play Summary:
Playwright Heidi Schreck’s boundary-breaking play breathes new life into our Constitution and imagines how it will shape the next generation of Americans. Fifteen-year-old Heidi earned her college tuition by winning Constitutional debate competitions across the United States. In this hilarious, hopeful and achingly human new play, she resurrects her teenage self in order to trace the profound relationship between four generations of women and the founding document that shaped their lives.
Casting:
Heidi - female/non-binary actor - a 30s/40s- woman… debating, challenging, and exploring America's founding document
Legionnaire/Mike - male/non-binary actor - (age flexible) proud member of the Leyden- Chiles-Wickersham American Legion Post 10 in Wenatchee, Washington/Heidi's friend
Rosdely - female/non-binary teen actor - a high school debater who debates the merits of the Constitution with Heidi
Performance Dates:
Friday and Saturday evenings from January 16th to 31st. Matinee performances may be considered.
Rehearsal Information:
Rehearsals will take place two to three nights per week from 6:30 to 9:00 PM and on Saturday mornings/early afternoons at the Black Box Theatre Indian Head Center for the Arts, located at 4185 Indian Head Highway, Indian Head, MD, 20640.
Tech Rehearsals will be from January 7th to January 15th, daily.
