Thursday, April 16, 7:00 p.m.

  • Audition and Performance Location: Black Box Theater 4185 Indian Head Highway, Indian Head. MD

Show Synopsis: Tuesdays with Morrie is a memoir by Mitch Albom detailing his weekly visits to his former college professor, Morrie Schwartz, who is dying of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Over several months, Mitch goes to visit Morrie on Tuesdays and they discuss the "meaning of life," focusing on love, work, family, aging, and accepting death, allowing Mitch to shift his priorities from material success to human relationships.

Character to be cast: Mitch, the narrator, a driven and successful but unfulfilled sports journalist who became materialistic after college. Sixteen years later, he reconnects with his college professor Morrie, after seeing him on the television program Nightline. Talking with Morrie helps Mitch find wisdom that changes his life perspective.

Character already cast: Morrie Schwartz, professor of Sociology at Brandeis University. He has a love of teaching and desire to treat others with compassion and understanding. He doesn't much care for material culture, preferring instead to spend his time cultivating meaningful relationships.
