Play Summary: Dying too young on her wedding day, Eurydice must journey to the underworld, where she reunites with her father and struggles to remember her lost love. A reimagining of the classic myth of Orpheus and Eurydice, told not through Orpheus’s infamous pilgrimage to reunite with his bride, but through the eyes of its heroine.
CASTING
Eurydice (Female 20s-30s)Curious, intelligent, emotional, and impulsive. Torn between love and memory, she is poetic, vulnerable, and searching for meaning. Requires strong emotional depth and openness.
Orpheus (Male 20s-30s)A gifted musician whose genius borders on obsession. Loves Eurydice deeply but struggles to communicate in a grounded, human way. Artistic, idealistic, and single-minded, with a quiet intensity.
Father (Male 50s+)Warm, gentle, and profoundly empathetic. A beacon of memory and love in the Underworld. Grounded and deeply human.
Lord of the Underworld (Adult Form) (Male 50s+)Playful, unpredictable, manipulative, and deeply lonely beneath the surface. Enjoys control, attention, and psychological games.
Lord of the Underworld (Child Form) (Any Gender, to portray Male 13-19)A humorous, surreal, and unsettling presence—emotionally complex. * Dance or strong movement experience is a plus.
The Stones (Big Stone, Loud Stone, Little Stone) (Any Gender, 13+) A chorus of three abstract, ancient entities—sentient forces of the Underworld. They observe, judge, and maintain the “rules” of the dead.
